Massage is not a luxury,
it is an important gift
we give our bodies
to say thank you.
Aloha and welcome to Manaloa Massage. The name Manaloa, comes from the Hawaiian words Mana, meaning power or life force and Loa, meaning long or expansive. Manaloa Massage was born out of my deep passion for helping and healing others through the Hawaiian art of Lomi Lomi Massage. I started my own practice because I want to help rid people of their physical and mental burdens. I want to elevate my client's minds, bodies and spirits, allowing them the opportunity to feel revitalized, motivated and empowered to live out their wildest hopes and dreams. To me, massage isn't a luxury, it is an important gift we give our bodies to say thank you for being my conduit in this life and for all the experiences that go along with living, breathing and moving.
My massage journey began almost ten years ago, on Maui, where I was lucky enough to receive training in the art of Mana Lomi created by Kumu Maka'ala Yates. For over a year, I apprenticed under my sister-in-law Jeana Naluai, a very gifted Lomi Lomi massage teacher and physical therapist. Then I began working for her at her spa and retreat center Ho'omana Spa Maui (an absolute upcountry paradise, if you ever get the chance to visit!). What I took away from my time on Maui was a deep reverence for the physical bodies that propel our spirits in this world, and I quickly learned that we must be avid stewards of our physical form in order to live the healthy and abundant lives we so deserve.
My specialty, Lomi Lomi massage, is an ancient healing art form rooted in indigenous Hawaiian healing practices created to harmonize the body, mind and spirit. Different from conventional massage, Lomi Lomi is not only relaxation-centered, it is primarily therapeutic, addressing the many layers of the body with a rhythmic dance of forearm movements and elbow pressure. By pushing slowly and deeply into the tissue of the body Lomi helps to move fluid, increase circulation and lymphatic drainage, stretch and release muscle tightness, and melt away stress and tension. It can be utilized to address very specific injuries and areas of pain or as a full-body healing ritual. Lomi Lomi also includes glute work, hip stretches and a stomach massage that helps improve digestion.
